In the News!

Many thanks to La Vernia News Room and especially to my new friend Pascalle for the exciting La Vernia News Article. Click Here to View!
My afternoon with Pascalle was smashing. We chatted away the afternoon, eating bread with European butter and sipping chocolate from eggshell tea cups. Thoughtfully, she brought along a family recipe (from her French mother's side) and I had a blast making the holiday bread then and there, a certain Pain d'Epices (a spice bread, similar to gingerbread: soft, spicy, sweet and delicious).
Pascalle blessed me in another way. I'm embarrassed to inform you, reader, that my spelling, of which I'm not a little proud though it is of little real life value, has not been completely accurate. My beloved Pan d'Epi is now officially Pain d'Epi. Thank you Pascalle!

Whos Hungry?

Brioche, Dinner Rolls, Pannetone, Hot Cross Buns, Challah and more at the La Vernia News Room this Friday, December 7 starting at 4:30. Plenty of samples and a Holiday Basket Raffle, what's more!

Wintry Wonders

Developing and perfecting Holiday Breads:

Roasted Garlic Herb Dinner Rolls, crusty and flavorful, satisfying with their slight sourdough flavor. Also in Dinner Rolls: Spinach and Feta, Caramelized Onion and Herb.

Panettone, a rich Italian Christmas bread, thick with golden raisins, apricots, cherries and more with Lemon and Vanilla overtones.

Hot Cross Buns, these moist sweet buns embrace the perfect balance of icing, nutmeg, and dates.

And I should mention, parenthetically, that these buns are not fattening.
Warning: Excess buns may cause weight gain.
For all that, Hot cross buns or any of the new additions most certainly result in a happier existence. After all, who can live without good bread, the staff of life?
